This is my favourite tale about any cats i have had the pleasure of knowing. I hope this is the right place for it.

A couple of years ago I was living with my then boyfriend, and his two cats, Loki and Katasi.
Katasi was an avid hunter, and we would be awoken by her dropping a bird, lizard, or mouse onto our bed most mornings. Loki however would rather just sleep in the sun.

One morning Katasi dragged a bird in our window, we would always give her plenty of pats to thank her for her "presents" before throwing them out when she wasn't looking. As always we gave her plenty of pats and cuddles. I suppose the only difference was Loki and my then partner were cuddling before Katasi came in, and so he ended the cuddlefest sooner than Loki would of liked.
Shortly after Loki went missing, we assumed he was being jelly and just hiding around the house somewhere, after a few days with no sign on him, we were going into panic mode, when he flopped through the window, a half eaten piece of toast in his mouth.
He dropped it on the bed, and looked up at us so proudly, as if to say "look what i caught!"
We gave him more cuddles than we had ever given Katasi, partially out of relief he came home, but mostly because of his "hunting" effort!

Just so you all know, I no longer have outdoor cats, at the time, i hadn't read about the dangers of letting cats roam. Even if i was aware of the dangers, i wouldn't of had a say, due to the fact they weren't my cats.
