Hello! You may be a first-time visitor here or a regular reader of our forum. I frequently notice that we have situations with only one or two respondents out of 50, 100 and even more readers of a topic!

I'm sure the other 49 of 50 or 99 of 100 wanted to contribute something, too, but perhaps they didn't know how it works. Therefore, here are the easy-to-follow 3 steps:

1. Click on "Forums list" in the left top corner of this site (Forum Navigation).

2. Click on any forum subclass of your choice. If this is your very first posting, it is recommended to choose "Introduce yourself".

3. You will see the button "New topic" on the left side of the orange bar above. Click on it, and you can write your entry!

Please note that, for security reasons, photos and website links can be included only after a certain minimum of forum conversations which prove that you are a real person. And don't forget to complete your profile for other readers' quick reference.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi im new here. Just looking for friendly advice.
We have a stray black cat that has been hanging around for a while now?
We started to feed him, so now hes ours?
He meows when hes in the house, I think its because he wants to go outside. How ever i cant let him out anymore. Hes friendly but doesn't like sitting on your body, and hes not too keen on holding him.
He meows late at night and wakes us up, so i keep him in the garage?
He wont eat unless somebody is near him? He meows when you walk away when he has food in his bowl?
Why does he do this,
also he has very long claws

Hello Simba, sorry for the late reply. Good on you that you took a stray cat in. The first thing you should do is, bring him to a vet (carry him in an escape-proof container) and get him scanned for a microchip. Almost any vet will do this for free. The kitty might not be a stray at all, but might belong to someone! If you keep him then please not in the garage; give him your company and he will settle in over time.
His claws should be clipped. There are special clippers available for about $10 from vets and pet shops which make this job easy. If he doesn't want to hold still, wrap him into a towel, so you don't get scratched.
If you get him desexed he will most likely stop his excessive meowing. He is probably just calling for a bride!
I hope this helps. ;)
